The Cyprus Investment Firms Act of 2002 provides the legal framework for the provision of investment services as well as for the registration, regulation of operations and supervision of Cyprus Investment Firms (CIF). The regulatory authority, which grants the authorization for such a firm, is the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySec).
Registering a CIF in the territory of Cyprus, grants permission to open representative offices in any other member state of the EU, having access to 450 million citizens of the European market.
Low to Zero taxation
Since the CIF is a Cyprus resident company, it will enjoy all the low tax benefits and double tax treaties of the Cyprus system. Its clients can also benefit from zero taxation on capital gains.
Low Set Up Cost
Compared with other jurisdictions the set up cost is considered to be very low.
Low operational cost
Compared to other jurisdictions, costs for having a fully fledged office, are considerably less in Cyprus (30-50% lower)
